D: Easy meals, part 4

In the previous installments of this series, we’ve been all about the “things you can do with the stuff in your fridge” meals. You can pretty much throw anything into them, and they’ll taste good. But sometimes, you want something that doesn’t look like you just threw the stuff in your fridge in a pot:

Vegetarians, never fear! It’s actually possible to make this recipe with no meat whatsoever, and have it taste amazing! You’ll never have had a veggie burger like this before, so scroll down to the end.

Easiest Burgers Ever (serves 4)

1 lb ground beef
1 egg
Bread crumbs
Chopped onion
Cheese (Blue cheese works great! So does cheddar)
Any spices you like (paprika, chili powder, black pepper…)

Actually, you can basically throw whatever you want into the burgers and have them taste good too, so this is sortof a “throw stuff in the fridge in a pot” recipe, but that’s not the point. The point is that it tastes awesome, and is way better than that junk you get at McDonald’s or Burger King, or pretty much any other fast food burger joint on the face of the planet (honestly, I don’t understand how people can stomach that. Enlighten me, anyone?)

Anyways, mix the ingredients together in a bowl. Put in enough bread crumbs to dry out the egg somewhat; the entire mixture should hold its form quite well. Shape into patties:

Then grill. Works great on a grill pan if you don’t have a barbeque, or it’s too cold outside, or whatever. Seriously, this recipe is so easy that you barely even have to think about it. You can be done in 15 minutes + grilling time, if you work fast, and you only dirty one bowl! Go make this!

Oh, and the vegetarian version — do the exact same thing, except use a can of (drained) chickpeas in place of the meat. You’ll probably need to throw everything in a food processor for a bit, and probably use a bit of olive oil to cook with. We tried this version several months ago, and were pretty shocked at how tasty it was.
